Queen Anne Highboy Plans
This beautiful design could easily be considered a woodworker's crowning achievement. On this plans page you are purchasing the plan for the upper section only, the highboy. The upper chest has graduated drawers starting with a single large drawer at the bottom and ending at the top in double drawers. The unit fits together with the lower section (the lowboy) without fasteners to facilitate easy moving of the piece and for furniture re-arrangement. Overall size: 73-3/4" high, 41" wide, 20-13/16" deep.

A classic design for the skilled woodworker, our Queen Anne desk, or "lowboy", is designed after a fine New England example, circa 1750. The center drawer is decorated with a chip-carved fan. The plan gives full size detail of the cabriole legs, ending in a pad foot. The four-drawer piece should be made of walnut, cherry, or mahogany. Brass hardware enhances the beauty of the wood. Use with our Chippendale style mirror. Overall dimensions: 35-3/4" wide, 20-5/8" deep, by 31" high. It's a crowning achievment in woodworking...just beautiful.

All joinery is shown in actual size, curved workpieces are all in full size and you can measure and trace straight from the drawing. A bill of materials doubles as an exact cutting list, there is a detailed exploded diagram, and all hardware requirements are provided. The exploded diagram is so detailed that project specific assembly instructions are not provided. A special booklet entitled Guide to Building Wood Furniture is included with each Furniture Designs, Inc. plan and includes many tips explaining the "component theory" of woodworking.
