The child in this photo is 36" tall and the Old Gray Mare has a 19-1/2" tall seat height, so take this into consideration as a proportion guide when you are choosing a rocking horse to build for that special child. Wide rockers provide a smooth rocking motion and there's plenty to hold on to with the old fashioned yoke collar the mare wears.

She may be sway backed, but she's a loveable old work horse which you can make yourself using these detailed plans.
