Here are Bill's notes, in brief:
"Ordered Krackles plan last fall. Used poplar wood. Changed a couple things but only slightly. If I were to build another I would make legs one piece, use dremel to mark hoof lines. Ears, I would use more pink tint to lighten inside of ears. I used dye on mane and saddle, red mahogany. Saddle was dark mahogany. Worked great. Saddle I would leave all as one piece excluding the horn and cut and sand down complete saddle as one piece. Left saddle dowled without glue this way as child grows saddle can be put on horse and last child a longer time.
Rockers I used full 2" finished board. Was easier than cutting down to 1.5". Blanket is attached by light weight string/rope put through holes drilled in body in opposing holes on 20 degree angle or so. Holes are at a low low angle V shape, then tied a knot in rope on each side so rope could not be pulled out."
